Tosano-Sunayama festival

‘ Tosano-sunayama' is the song sung with battering drum. It is said that it was composed by priest Sannoubou. People of Jusan district dance with this song in annual August 13.

Jusan district prospered as trading city of rice and Hiba (expensive wood) until 1920s. In those days, there were tens of restaurant in there. Quite a few private houses opened cafe and welcomed owners of load or captains of ship. Each owners of restaurants and cafes entertained guests by singing the song ‘Tosano-sunayama'.

The festival Tosanosunayama remind us of the time when this district prospered.
