The memorial hall of the great author Osamu Dazai 'Shayoukan'

 

 

The memorial hall 'Shayoukan' is the parent's home of famous author Osamu Dasai. It was constructed in June 1907 by Dasai's father Gen-emon Tsushima .

 

Whole of Shayoukan including warehouse of rice is made of Hiba (expensive wood). The house involves 19 rooms (first floor is 11 rooms, second floor is 8 rooms) , kitchen, servant's rooms, 2 floor book warehouse, 2 rice warehouses, lodge of horse, garage of wagon.

 

After WW2, 1948, the house became a civilians belonging, and it became hotel named 'Shayoukan'. Soon after, a lot of fans of Dasai started to visit this inn from all region of Japan .

 

In 1996, Kanagi town bought Shayoukan , and opened it to tourists and general public as memorial museum Shayoukan. In there, more than 600 rarely goods which include Dasai's patronage goods, original manuscript, and others are exhibited .
